I'm so very sad to hear that race car driver Jason Leffler was killed in a Sprint Car race in New Jersey last night. I liked him a lot. I wasn't an over-the-top huge fan, but I am certainly an over-the-top huge Tony Stewart fan and I know that Tony helped Jason out a little bit along the way. There were even stories going around several years back when they both drove for Joe Gibbs Racing... apparently Jason used to follow Tony around, trying to learn all that he could. If you saw one, you saw the other. Jason ended up with the nickname "Mini Me" in the process. I love that!
It's always sad to see somebody die at 37. It's particularly sad to read that he had a five year old son. If there is any solace, it's that he died doing what he absolutely loved, and that's driving a race car.
NASCAR put together a beautiful tribute to Jason. Here it is.

RIP Jason Leffler. You'll be missed.
